Lesson 2

The Chess Board

Thins you need to know:

-Know your chess board.
-The chess board consist of 64 tile that is arranged in a 8by8 grid. Each column and row on a chess board has certain coordinates.

 The Picture above shows how a chess board looks like with the column and row coordinates.

Now the chess piece placements.

The pawns are placed at the tiles of ABCDEFGH2.
The bishops are placed at C1 and F1.
The knights are placed at B1 and G1.
The rooks are placed at A1 and H1.
The king and queen are placed next to each other at the tiles D1 and E1.

If you are playing white your king should always be placed on the black tile at the beginning of the game.
